Option 1: 15km, aprox 1h30min

Starting from our base, you turn left on the junction and follow the National Road towards Sintra. After a few turns downhill we will turn right (just before the bridge). This takes us on gravel road alongside the River Lizandro, which you will follow from now on (2 options here: follow the Gravel Road or turn left just under the bridge-this takes you on a nice single trail all the way to the watertreatment plant, where the gravel road will join up as well).
After going the watertreatment plant we follow a small road which takes us to the small church of Sra. de O. We cross the bridge and immediately turn left onto a tractor path. From now on we follow this all along the right side of the river. Its mostly flat and and easy ride (after heavy rain you will encounter deep mudd puddles which normally you can circumnavigate without problems).
When you reach a second proper bridge, cross it and turn right afterwards. Now we follow another Gravelroad on the lefthandside of the River.
You can continue until it starts going uphill.
Time for a shortbreak, enjoy the nature and start heading back the same way we came before.

Option 2: 22km, aprox. 2 hours

Alternatively, instead of crossing the 2nd Bridge you just continue straight on and follow the Tractor Path on the right hand side of the River all the way to the village Carvalhal where we turn around and start our journey back.

Starting from our base, you turn left on the junction and follow the National Road towards Sintra. After a short downhill we cross the bridge and turn right immediately after the bridge. We follow the small road and keep left on the first junction.

After a small uphill we keep right which will lead us to the Trilho de Falesia (Lizandro Beach). The trail starts straight ahead and we follow it until we some houses again. There we turn right and follow the trail all the way to the front (we are biking on the lefthand river side towards the Atlantic Ocean).Once the trail starts heading downhill towards the sea please check before you continue. There might be some washed out sections.

You can always push the bike down this part if you do not feel comfortable descending. Once on top of the Beach, enjoy the view, watch the surfers then follow the trail which will lead you to Sao Juliao Beach, and play along as there are many small sections which you can try out until you come to the next Beach.
After a coffe or a beer you can take the same way back or explore some other waypoints
